The Newcastle Jets offer local schools a number of school programs. The objective of these school programs is to involve students with the club and to have our players give something back to our community. The Club aims to educate and inform students on many important issues including fitness, health, diet, teamwork and leadership. Through talks with players, the club aspires to motivate children to be involved in sports or group activities.

Players in Primary Schools Program
The Players in Primary Schools Program ensure that the Newcastle Jets players have an involvement in local schools. The Newcastle Jets visit local schools each year in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter Valley regions. In this program, members of the Newcastle Jets playing group visit your school to sign autographs and hand out tickets to upcoming matches (during A-league season only) or to participate in a school assembly or awards ceremony.

In 2009, the Newcastle Jets donated hundreds of entry tickets to Newcastle Jets home matches during our visits to local schools. These tickets are rewarded to students for their participation in a promotion or for achievements in their sport or academic endeavours.

Hands Up Program
The Hands Up program is designed to be an interactive session with members of the Newcastle Jets playing group. These sessions are designed for smaller class groups of up to 50 children. The players speak to the students about life as a professional footballer, nutrition, exercise, leadership and team work (or other appropriate topics as advised by the school’s curriculum). The players may also conduct a trivia quiz or read a children’s story. The specific activities that the players will conduct are discussed prior to the players visit between our administrative staff and your teaching staff.

The session concludes with a signature opportunity where students may obtain signatures and photos with the players.
