Gary van Egmond has today named a 17-man squad to travel to Perth for Saturday’s week 20 game against Perth Glory.

Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond has today named a 17-man squad to travel to Perth for Saturday-s week 20 game against Perth Glory.

“It is going to be a tough game, before their loss to Sydney, they had been on an eight game winning streak and they are back home this weekend and will be wanting to ensure they turnaround that result,” van Egmond said.

“It is another six-point game for us, if we lose they will be well and truly away from us and it becomes even more difficult for our team to get in that top four but if we get a result then obviously we keep ourselves in the mix.”

Jobe Wheelhouse will miss Saturday night-s game due to a tear in his groin and van Egmond says he has a couple of options to fill the captains spot.

“We may bring Taylor Regan in or Ali Abbas is another option, it depends on how many positional changes we need to make and we will know a bit more after tomorrow-s training session and will start to settle on a line-up,” he explained.

Van Egmond has named Connor Chapman in this week-s squad with the young defender putting his hand up to make his A-League debut against Glory.

“Connor has been doing really well, he looks comfortable in the first grade environment and it may be this week that he gets included,” the coach added.

The Jets 17-man squad to take on Perth Glory is: 1. Ben Kennedy (gk), 2. Taylor Regan, 4. Nikolai Topor-Stanley, 5. Tiago Calvano, 8. Jeremy Brockie, 9. Michael Bridges, 10. Ruben Zadkovich, 11.
