Deans will need to reduce his squad to 16 before the team travel to Wellington on Saturday.
Marko Jesic will need to prove his fitness this week at training to secure his spot in this 16-man squad.
The Jets have won just one game in seven visits to Westpac Stadium, with the Phoenix claiming all three points in the other six.
“The team is aware of what they need to do to win on Sunday,” Deans said.
“It is always tough to get a result over in Wellington but we are quietly confident that we can perform well over there.”
