90 minutes for van Egmond at FIFA Women’s World Cup

Jets Westfield W-League star Emily van Egmond played the full 90 minutes as the Matildas commenced their 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign with a 3-1 loss to tournament heavyweights United States of America in Winnipeg, Canada on Tuesday morning (AEST).

Niece of Jets Chief Executive Officer Mitchell Murphy, Katrina Gorry, also played 80 minutes for the Matildas as Alan Stajcic’s side impressed in their opening Group encounter against the States despite suffering defeat.

The Matildas can bounce back from their pool loss to America on Saturday morning (AEST) when they tackle Nigeria in Winnipeg.

In their final Group match Australia’s national women’s team will take on Sweden.
