Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the re-signing of veteran goalkeeper, Glen Moss, with the former-Kiwi international remaining at the Club until the end of the Hyundai A-league 2019/20 season.

After joining the Jets at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, Moss had to bide his time early on but has since nailed down a starting spot between the sticks courtesy of a string of solid performances.

The 36-year-old is one of the league’s most experienced campaigners, with 231 Hyundai A-League appearances under his belt.

Moss has made 27 Hyundai A-League appearances for the Jets, plus a pair in the AFC Champions League where he was immense across 180 minutes.

With four clean sheets and 48 saves in his 15 appearances this season, the goalkeeper is in good form and is pleased to have secured his future in Newcastle.

“I’ve been enjoying my football here in Newcastle, Ernie has assembled a good group of players and we’re always confident of doing well,” Moss said.

“I feel I have a responsibility to guide the younger players and I’m really enjoying my role as a senior leader in the squad.

“The Club culture that Lawrie, Joel, and Ernie have created is something I really believe in and hopefully I can help it grow for a few seasons to come.”

Ernie Merrick was pleased to have secured the shot-stopper’s signature.

“Glen is a very experienced and dependable player, I’ve coached him at three different clubs now and he has a real calming presence on the group,” Merrick said.

“His game just continues to develop, he’s a real leader amongst the boys and the fact that he’s also doing his coaching badges shows me that he’s still keen to learn and improve.

“It’s good to have him locked in for another season, he’s playing some of his best football at age 36 and he’s been very impressive this season.”
