Our U/14s girls enjoyed a big win over Bankstown while the U/12s boys came out on top in a 14-goal thriller with Adamstown in a big day of Newcastle Jets Academy football on Sunday.
With two of the three NPL Northern NSW boys enjoying the bye this weekend, the remaining ten Academy teams played side-by-side at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility.
Games kicked off at 8:30am, with the U/13s girls getting things off to a good start with a 2-1 victory over Bankstown in the U/14s NPL NSW Women’s competition.
Not to be outdone, the U/14s girls smashed the Lions 12-0 in the U/15s while in the U/17s fixture, the U/15s girls cruised to a 5-0 win over Bankstown.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t replicate things in the Reserves or First Grade games with both sides going down 4-2.
Our NPL Northern NSW youth boys kicked off against Adamstown at 9:30am, and it paid to be out at Lake Mac early with an incredible 14 goals scored in the opening fixture of the day, the U/13s.
It was our U/12s boys who came out on top, beating out Rosebud 9-5 with four goals from Will Dobson helping the Jets to a big win.
The U/13s boys went down 3-1 to the Adamstown U/14s, while the U/14s played out a tight 1-1 draw with the Rosebud U/15s.
In the U/16s fixture, it was another big win for the Newcastle Jets with the U/15s boys cruising to an 11-2 victory.
The final match of the day saw the U/16s boys take on Football Mid North Coast in the U/18s competition, winning out 6-1.
Next weekend, the NPL Northern NSW boys will travel to Edgeworth to take on the Eagles across all seven grades of what is a set to be a bumper day of Academy football.
The NPL NSW Women’s sides will take on North Shore Mariners down at Sydney’s Valentine Sports Park.
