The Newcastle Jets have taken out two titles at Football Federation Australia’s (FFA) National Youth Championships in Coffs Harbour, being crowned champions in the U14 and U15 Girls competitions.
Representing the Northern New South Wales region, the competition saw teams from each of the State Federations of the FFA compete over five days.
Both teams had the benefit of a vastly experienced coaching staff with Jets Academy Director, Mike Cooper taking the club’s entire Westfield W-League coaching staff with Hannah Brewer also working in mentoring role.
The Jets squads proved too strong in both competitions, with the U14s winning on goal difference, while the 15 Years finished clear of NSW Metro Blue having gone through the competition undefeated.
Jets Academy Director, Mike Cooper said it was a fantastic result for football development in the Hunter.
“It was a great reward for the girls who put in an enormous effort to get a result in both competitions,” Cooper said.
“Aside from the result, this was a great learning experience for both squads.
“Their commitment across the board was first class and we saw some quality performances that put individuals and the Academy as a whole on the radar of national team staff.
“The players, parents and staff were able to create a really positive environment throughout the week and it was an enjoyable experience for all involved.”
