Academy: Lakes and Blacktown clashes

There were four washouts for our Academy sides this weekend, with the youth boys denied the chance to take on Lake Macquarie City on Saturday.

There were no such problems for the senior boys, who got on the pitch out at Macquarie Park and secured three wins from three matches played.

ACADEMY: Players of the Month announced

A-LEAGUE: Jets win five-goal thriller

The U/16s boys got things underway, winning out 2-1 over an under 18’s Lakes side before the U/18s boys cruised to a 4-1 win in the U/20s competition.

The U/20s lads got the job done in the first-grade fixture, grinding out a 1-0 win to move into a share of the lead at the top of the table.

Meanwhile across at Speers Point on Sunday, there was a more mixed bag of results for our girls sides up against Blacktown.

The U/13s cruised to a 6-0 win in the opening fixture of the day, while the U1/4s played out a pulsating 4-4 draw with the Spartans U/15’s side.

It was a tough 3-1 defeat for the U/15’s who faced off against a strong Blacktown U/17s side, while the Jets U/17s won out 3-2 in a five-goal thriller with the Spartans Reserves side.

Looking for their second win of the season, the U/19s ultimately fell short in the first grade clash – losing out 4-2 in the final game of the day.

There’s no rest for the Academy sides – the senior boys are up against Weston next weekend and the youth boys will take on North Coast Football.

Meanwhile for the girls there’ll be plenty of familiar faces as they gear up to take on Sydney Uni on Sunday afternoon.
