Academy: Solid opening day for youth boys

In their first game in the NPL NNSW competition, the U/12s were the standouts in a solid opening weekend for our Academy boys.

Up against a club which has traditionally been strong at all levels, Broadmeadow Magic, it was a touch of class to open proceedings at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility.

The massive 8-1 win from the U/12s boys shot the Jets to the top of the ladder after the first round of fixtures – Jesse Hill was the standout, bagging five goals in the rout.

Things weren’t so smooth for the U/13s boys, who went down 4-1 to Magic.

There was a stalemate in the U/14s match, with the scores locked at 1-1 at the half-time break and neither side able to find a winner in the second.

In the final fixture of the afternoon, the U/15s, there was another big win with the young Jets romping home to a 5-0 victory after leading by two at the half-time break.

Alongside the opening competitive fixtures of the season for the boys were the girls, playing their final friendly fixtures of the pre-season ahead of their campaign kicking off next weekend.

They’ll start their season in the NPL NSW Women’s competition next weekend, taking on NWS Koalas in Sydney.
