Active Support

What is Active Support?
Active support is the passionate and vocal support of the team through cheering, chanting and standing for the majority of the match.

Through songs, banners and tifo displays, active supporters bring a truly unique level of noise, colour and passion to football stadiums around the world.

Hunter Stadium is no exception to this, with Newcastle Jets players having fed off the energy and passion of the crowd for the past eight A-League seasons.

The supporters act as an invaluable 12th man and have the ability to lift and inspire the team.

Active support at Newcastle Jets home games
The Newcastle Jets aim to continue growing the Club-s active support base to ensure Hunter Stadium becomes a fortress for the Jets and a difficult place for opposition teams to come and play.

The hub of active support at Newcastle Jets home matches is located in Bay 2 at Hunter Stadium. Bay 2 is the place that houses the Club-s most vocal active support group, known as the Squadron.

There is an expectation that if you are in Bay 2 you are ‘active- and will stand and sing for the duration of the match.

Bay 1 at Hunter Stadium serves as an additional Active Support Bay.

Bay 1 is the ideal location for those fans interested in getting a feel for active support, learning the songs and steadily integrating themselves into the Squadron.

Jets supporters who are passionate about active support play a key role in shaping the match day atmosphere at Hunter Stadium for each A-League match at the venue.

While the epicentre of the Newcastle Jets- active support is located around Bay 2 and Bay 1, all Newcastle Jets supporters are welcome and encouraged to get involved in active support no matter where they are seated in Hunter Stadium.

This can be done by joining in chants, clapping along with songs and making your own banners and flags to bring to Hunter Stadium on match day.

Members can access Bay 1 by visiting the Membership box office on game day and collecting a ticket to gain access to that bay. Members will still require their Membership card to gain access through the turnstiles. GA Members will be required to pay a $5 upgrade fee to access this Bay.

Match-day sales tickets can be purchased through PROticket for both bays but it is better value to purchase a Membership.

The Squadron
The Squadron is the backbone of the Newcastle Jets- Active Support base and a fantastic platform upon which to continue growing the Club-s Active Support.

The presence of the Squadron is considered integral to the success of match day and growing fans- support throughout other parts of Hunter Stadium.

The Squadron has been responsible for two of the biggest tifo displays in the Hyundai A-League-s history – the giant gold pullover at the 2008 Grand Final and the NEWCASTLE drop down display against Melbourne Victory in 2011.

The Squadron has also manufactured and deployed a large number of smaller tifo displays and on a continual basis punches well above its weight in comparison to other active support groups in the Hyundai A-League with larger populations to draw from.

The Squadron is always looking to grow and welcomes any Jets Members and supporters interested in participating in active support to join them.
