All about the team says Haliti

Thrilled with his goal on the weekend, Labinot Haliti says it is about working hard for the team.

After scoring the Newcastle Jets’ second goal in Saturday night’s 3-1 win over Melbourne Victory, colourful character Labinot Haliti celebrated his goal by ripping off his shirt and running in to the crowd.

This celebration is not new for Haliti, who since returning to the Jets in 2009 has become known for his enthusiasm and goal scoring celebrations.

“I can-t describe the feeling when I scored that goal,” the Albanian striker said.

“Anyone who scores is happy with their performance but it is not just about scoring, it is about working hard for the team and improving week after week.”

When Haliti headed the goal in the back of the net, he ran straight to the Squadron and shared the moment with them.

“Our Members and fans offer us the best support I have seen and we enjoy playing in front of them,” he explained.

“I hope that our game against the Victory gave them something that makes them want to come back again.”

Whilst the team are happy with last weekend’s win against the Victory, they have quickly turned their attention to Saturday-s derby against the Central Coast Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium.

“We always look forward to derby day and the Mariners are an in-form team, so we will have to wait and see what happens on Saturday,” Haliti added.
