Football Federation Australia (FFA) has notified the Newcastle Jets that an independent Appeal Committee hearing will be held on Tuesday 10 July, commencing at 5:30pm (AEST) in relation to a matter involving Roy O’Donovan.

The independent Appeal Committee hearing is in relation to an appeal by O’Donovan from the determination of the independent Disciplinary and Ethics Committee regarding an incident which occurred in the 93rd minute of the Hyundai A-League 2018 Grand Final between the Newcastle Jets and Melbourne Victory.

The hearing will assess an incident in which O’Donovan was issued a red card following a collision with Victory goalkeeper, Lawrence Thomas when challenging for the ball.

The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee on 18 May 2018 determined that O’Donovan must serve a suspension of ten (10) Hyundai A-League matches and/or FFA Cup matches (whichever comes first), which includes the Mandatory Match Suspension.

The club will continue to work with Professional Footballers Australia as they support O’Donovan through this appeals process.
