Barbieri looks forward to the Jets W-League opening game this Saturday at Adamstown Oval.

The Westfield W-League season kicked off last weekend but the Jets drew a first round bye, so we had to wait another week to get amongst the action.

The excitement levels are high within the team and we are ready to kick-off our season this Saturday October 29 at Adamstown Oval.

We not only want a win but we want an exciting encounter to ensure Jets members and fans stick with us throughout our ten games of the 2011/12 season.

We go up against Adelaide this week, who didn’t go so well last year, and although we are confident we certainly know the dangers of being too confident. We will be all business when it hits 2pm this Saturday at Adamstown Oval.

To be playing alongside the likes of Matildas- Lisa De Vanna and Emily Van Egmond, and also Ariane Hingst, dual World Champion and triple Olympic bronze medalist, has really given the team a winning mentality and we won-t settle for anything but the best football.

Young guns for you to look out for are Alana Kennedy (Young Matildas captain), Nicola Bolger and Tara Andrews. Tara is known for her long range goal last season against Sydney FC, where the young striker came on as a super sub and scored two goals to beat Sydney in 15 minutes!

We can-t wait to get out there and show Newcastle what we can do and make you proud to be a Jets W-League member and supporter.

We hope you can come and watch us at Adamstown this Saturday, be sure to say hello if you do.

Melissa Barbieri
