Experienced defender, Hannah Brewer will reach an important milestone this afternoon at No.2 Sportsground, Newcastle – stepping onto the pitch as a Jet for the 50th time.

The fullback, who started her career with the club as a teenager has enjoyed stints with Melbourne Victory and today’s opposition, Canberra United – taking her to 84 Westfield W-League appearances overall.

Brewer has also be recognised at a national level, as an under 17 Australian representative and making one appearance as a Matilda in 2014.

Head Coach, Craig Deans said he had been trying to bring Brewer back to the Hunter for a number of years.

“Ever since she left, I’ve always been interested in getting Hannah back to Newcastle,” said Deans.

“She’s a quality footballer, a quality person and brings a winning mentality to the group – it’s fantastic to have her back this year.

“Hannah brings so much experience with her and that’s been invaluable for us, she’s a natural leader and brings out the best in herself and the players around her.

“She’s a bit of a character as well, she’s a great personality to have around the group and offers so much off the pitch – she’s been a great signing for us.”

Brewer has made a strong start to the 2017/18 Westfield W-League campaign, and Deans added that it was important to acknowledge milestones such as this.

“Hannah has been a committed footballer for a number of years, her record is testament to that,” added Deans.

“As a club, I think it’s important that we acknowledge these type of achievements and I’m really happy that Hannah has been able to reach this important milestone with the Jets.”

The Jets’ Westfield W-League side take on Canberra United at No.2 Sportsground, Newcastle on Sunday 19 November – kick-off 4.30pm.
