Bridgey: I want to see you Saturday!

Newcastle Jets striker Michael Bridges hopes the Jets members and supporters will be their twelfth man on Saturday night.

This Saturday night we return to play at home in front of our Members and supporters. We have been on the road for three games, and brought back seven points from a possible nine.

We can-t wait to play back in front of our Members and supporters. We appreciate the support we get when we are on the road, and we thank those for traveling, but there is nothing quite like running out onto Hunter Stadium.

We go into Saturday-s game against Melbourne Heart with some confidence but we can’t be complacent and think think the three-points are ours.

We need to look at what got us our most recent results, it was a combination of hard work, good movement, great finishing, a togetherness amongst the team as well as fighting for every ball and teammate out there, and make sure we take that into this week-s game.

We have played the Heart twice this season and we are one game apiece. Because we have beaten then at home we know we can do it again if the attitude and concentration levels are right for 90 minutes.

We are playing better football and have a faster passing game now and that will be critical for us this weekend.

The Heart have been very strong this year. They have had a lot of young players stand up and be counted this season and they have risen to the challenge. It is obvious they are reaping the rewards from developing young players and a coaching system to find these players.

They are sitting one spot ahead of us on the championship ladder, a win for us this weekend means we would leap frog them and move into fifth position.

The Heart-s recent dip in results hopefully means it a good time to play them but as we have seen in the A-League, anybody can beat anybody on the day.

On Saturday, we hope to see as many of our Members and supporters in the stands at Hunter Stadium. You have been amazing all year and have come out in numbers each week to watch us play.

We really hope from the last few matches you see the passing football the coaches are trying to implement and to help make us become better all-round footballers.

I would love to see a big crowd there on Saturday to help us overtake the Heart on the ladder as a loud crowd is really like having twelve players on the field.
