Josh Brillante has been announced as the February nominee for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award 2013/14.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) and NAB, together with Newcastle Jets, are proud to announce Josh Brillante as the February nominee for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award 2013/14.

After returning from international duty with the Olyroos at the AFC U-22 Championships in Oman, Brillante played 90 minutes in all four of the Newcastle Jets- Hyundai A-League fixtures in February, doing an exceptional job in his less-favoured position of right fullback.

Brillante was honoured to be nominated for the prestigious award.

“It’s really pleasing to be nominated for this award,” Brillante said.

“When I came back from Oman my focus was to work my way back into the starting line-up at the Jets. Obviously I feel more comfortable playing in the midfield, but I’ve been pretty happy with my performances at right-back in the past few weeks and I’m just happy to be playing and contributing to the team.

“We’ve had a few good results against the top teams in the last few weeks and hopefully we can string a few more together and make a push for the finals.”

Josh Brillante is the fifth nominee for the annual award and joins Trent Sainsbury (October) and Adam Taggart (November), Storm Roux (December) and Dimitri Petratos (January).

Storm, Trent, Adam, Dimitri and Josh will be joined by one other nominee to be in the running for the title of NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award 2013/14.

Tim Clarke, Head of NAB Sponsorship said he is delighted to see the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award continue to unearth future stars of the game.

“We congratulate Josh Brillante on his nomination and look forward to watching his development and growth on the football field in the years to come,” said Mr Clarke.

“We are also pleased to recognise Josh-s nominated club, Across the Waves FC in Bundaberg, Queensland, and hope that our support will help the club to continue developing the game at a local grassroots level.”

NAB has generously donated a $1,500 equipment pack and $1,000 in a NAB Community Saver Account to Josh-s chosen junior club.

The overall winner of the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award 2013/14 will receive a $10,000 NAB personal investment portfolio, along with a NAB Private Client Manager to assist with a range of banking and financial services.

“As a supporter of the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award, NAB is proud to play an important role in identifying and rewarding tomorrow-s stars of the game. Who knows, we may even see some of the nominees donning the boots for the Socceroos in the future,” Mr Clarke continued.

Each month representatives from the football media and the FFA Technical department vote on a 3-2-1 basis for the most outstanding U-21 players in the Hyundai A-League during that period.
