One person looking forward to the Newcastle Jets trip across the Tasman this weekend is New Zealand born Jeremy Brockie.

“I am really looking forward to going home this weekend,” Brockie said.

“When the draw comes out I always look to see when I get to go back home.

“My dad and grandparents are coming to the game and will be good to have their support on Sunday.”

Born in Nelson, New Zealand, Brockie began his career with the New Zealand Knights before moving to Australia to take up a contract with Sydney FC.

After a stint at North Queensland Fury, this talented striker signed a two-year contract with the Jets, arriving in Newcastle earlier this year.

Despite only managing to defeat Phoenix once in Wellington, Brockie says the team is confident they can come away with the win this weekend.

“We are pretty high on confidence after last weekend-s result,” Brockie added.

“The boys are really determined to go over there and break the hoodoo.

“We don-t have the best history over there and it is a good time to go over there and change it.

“Wellington are normally pretty strong at home, hopefully we can go over there and catch them on the wrong foot and come away with the three points.”

Another reason this proud Kiwi and All White representative is looking forward to the trip back home is the opportunity to watch the All Blacks take on the Wallabies on home soil.

“I am a little disappointed I will miss the Test Match in Newcastle but I will get to see the All Blacks which is pretty exciting,” Brockie explained.

“It is going to be massive and I am sure there will be some friendly banter between the boys during the game.”
