Sunday’s win was even sweeter for Jeremy Brockie who bagged a double against his former club.

The Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets 5-2 victory over Sydney FC on Sunday was even sweeter for Jeremy Brockie who managed to bag a double against his former club.

“Ruben (Zadkovich), Topor (Nikolai Topor-Stanley) and Bridgey (Michael Bridges) and I were sitting at dinner last night and we were talking about how when you come up against your old clubs, more often or not you score and it obviously came off well for us today and we have a very happy change-room right now,” the striker said.

“I was only a young boy when I played for Sydney and I have had a couple years of experience in the A-League now so I am happy where I am and it is good to be scoring goals as an attacking player and hopefully I can keep doing that for the team for the rest of the season.”

Having now scored an impressive eight goals, Brockie has overtaken Ryan Griffiths for the most goals this season.

“Ryan and I have been having a bit of a battle since the start of the season and I set myself a target of 10 goals, I am now at 8 so I am going to have to push that out to 12-15 now,” Brockie explained.

“I think I can help the team in our finals run and it is good to score a few goals away from home.

“It was my first two goals away this season and the boys have been giving me a bit of stick that I only score at home so hopefully this is the first of many.”
