James Brown has been named as a Deadlys award finalist in the category of Most Promising New Talent in Sport.

Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets midfielder James Brown has been named as a finalist in the prestigious Deadly awards in the category of Most Promising New Talent in Sport.

The Deadlys are an annual celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander achievement in music, sport entertainment and community.

Brown said he felt privileged to be nominated for such a highly esteemed award.

“It-s nice to be recognised in the Indigenous community for my sporting achievements, so it is a big honour,” Brown said.

“I think I can definitely promote the sport in the Indigenous community as well as healthy living and making the right choices.

“Being nominated for this award will definitely help that objective.”
