CEO Robbie Middleby’s Member and supporter update from Jets HQ.

Last weekend was disappointing for the Jets across all three of our grades. Our Women-s, Youth and A-League teams did not get the result after the success of all three teams the week before.

This being said I am confident we will see very different results for our teams this weekend and I encourage you all to come out today and help our A-League as they attempt to put a stop to Brisbane Roar-s 35 game streak.

The results we have achieved at home this season shows just how important our Members and supporters are and I am confident we will see our biggest crowd yet fill the stands of Ausgrid Stadium.

Thank you to all our Members and supporters who turned up to Adamstown Oval last weekend to watch our W-League team take on Sydney FC. It was incredible to have almost 1000 of you there and I hope support for this talented team continues to grow from week to week.

Like you all, I was thrilled hearing that Michael Bridges was coming out of retirement to join the Jets for the rest of this season. Bridgey has worked incredibly hard to be at a point where he can play competitive football again and he has already impressed Gary van Egmond in the short time he has been back coaching the Jets.

Michael has some unfinished business and it will be exciting to see him back out there doing what he loves to do. I know you are all eager for him to play but it is important that he looks after his health and fully recovers from the virus before making his return.

We are currently in the process of appointing a new Youth team coach. James Pascoe is doing a tremendous job as interim coach and it is nice to know that our young players are in such good hands while we go through the motions of finding a replacement for Craig Deans, who is enjoying his role as the Assistant Coach of the first team.

I hope you all got a chance to see our players on the Today Show yesterday during the live weather cross at Merewether Beach. It was nice of Muffin Break and the Today Show to invite us along and the players really enjoyed getting the chance to pass on their football knowledge to the school children.

Our Team Newcastle Movember campaign is going strong and it is great to see our players getting so involved in this wonderful cause. You can log on to see how the players ate doing or join Team Newcastle by clicking here.
