CEO Says

It has been a big week at the Jets and Robbie Middleby is here to tell you all about it.

Hi to all our Members and supporters

It was great to welcome Gary van Egmond back to the Club last week. Whilst his first game back as coach didn’t go the way he or anyone wanted, we know it will take the players time to adjust to the new playing style.

His appointment is great for the Club as he is passionate about Newcastle and the Northern NSW region. Gary-s role is not only to make sure the A-League team does well but he will play an important role in nurturing the future players of our three Jets teams.

I would also like to welcome Francis Jeffers back to the Jets. Francis was incredibly influential during his short stay last season and he will add quality and experience to the team this year. I am sure I am like all of you and can’t wait to see him back in action against Perth in Saturday’s game.

We were working overtime to get Francis’ visa approved and thankfully that came through this week allowing the coach to select him in his squad.

Our W-League team got off to a flying start after defeating Adelaide 3-nil at Adamstown Oval last Saturday. With last year-s crowds averaging 150, to have 900 Members and supporters at the game was outstanding. We have a very exciting team this year and it is great it was a strong performance for those that attended. Thanks to all our members than attended and it was a great sight to see all the red caps in the crowd.

Our Y-League team has also been doing very well this season. Under the guidance of James Pascoe, the team have now secured two draws and a win. The future is bright and Wednesday-s game against Perth Glory showed just how well some of our young stars are playing. To find out more about this game, you can read the match report from Tuesday-s game by clicking here.

After a tough week on the training field, the first team are looking to bounce back from last week-s loss. They are up against a quality team in Perth Glory and are hoping to keep their 100 per cent home record in tact.

During the win over the Mariners our Members and supporters were instrumental in helping the team get over the line and I hope you all come out again on Saturday and support the team.
