Welcome to this week’s edition of Coaches Corner.

Welcome to this week-s edition of Coaches Corner.

First up, congratulations to up and coming junior talent, Chris Payne on the birth of his first child, a healthy baby boy.

As a coach, you not only play an important role in the development of football careers – you get the opportunity to witness a player-s journey from a teenager just out of school to a first grader on debut, to a young family man which is a privilege.

On the field, our progress to date has been pleasing.

We had a tough month or so with interrupted preparations due to constant rain but we-re back on the pitch and enjoying some important game time.

Last week-s performance against NSW Premier League side, Bonnyrigg was played at a high standard. We were tested in the first 20 minutes but to our credit the boys adjusted to the conditions and settled in to regain control for a 3 – 0 trial victory.

The mid week pre season games have worked to our advantage and provided the team with some strong competition as we continue to trial different combinations of players and tactics under game conditions. It really is a case of the more time on the field the better.

We have another mid week game this week in Sydney against Bankstown; however we will be without Ben Kantarovski, Jason Culina and Kasey Wehrman due to absence and injury which is unfortunate. In the meantime the rest of the team are pushing themselves for peak condition.

Once again we-ll be looking to our younger players who have stepped up and are showing promise.

James Virgili, Sam Gallaway and Mario Simic are really shinning through, establishing themselves as players and using the more senior players- mentoring to their advantage.

Gaining such major progress within the whole team is important because it creates depth in the squad.

Don-t forget we-re at Jensen Park from 7.00pm this Wednesday for our next pre season game against Bankstown. If any Sydney based Jets supporters are keen to see their team in action we look forward to seeing you there.
