Thank you to each and every one of the 12,467 members and fans who turned out at Ausgrid Stadium to support the Jets on Saturday…

I would like to start by saying thank you! Thank you to each and every one of the 12,467 members and fans who turned out at Ausgrid Stadium to support the Jets on Saturday. It was amazing to emerge from our home tunnel to the roar of the Newcastle crowd.

I would also like to personally thank everyone for their messages of encouragement over the past week.

It was certainly satisfying to come away with the win in the season opening game. The boys had done a lot of preparation for the game against the Melbourne Heart and we wanted to reward our members and the community for their amazing support leading in to the Round 1 match.

When I was asked to prepare the team for Saturday-s game I had to try and keep our focus on the pitch, with the game’s result and the teams performance my priority.

Looking to the week ahead, the Wellington Phoenix is a team not to be taken lightly. With a draw against Gold Coast United in their first clash, the Phoenix may have injury concerns but they are still dangerous, especially on their home pitch.

They will have the home ground advantage come game day but we as a team are preparing well with the players firmly focused on the long road ahead that is the Hyundai A-League season.

We go into the match with one game under our belts and an opportunity to review each other-s performances and tactics.

So far this week the team has trained well and can guarantee our members another typical Novocastrian performance; we will never give up until the final whistle.

The Club is very close to hitting the member target of 10,000. If you don’t have your membership don’t delay! The F3 derby is Sunday October 23 and we want to see the stadium packed with Jets colours.

Until next week
