US import Niki Cross had only been in Australia a few days before she received a not so friendly Aussie welcome that has left her sidelined for at least a couple of weeks.
During a training camp and friendly match in Coffs Harbour, a sliding tackle from Cross resulted in a stud from an opponent-s boot slicing open her left knee. The cut had to be stitched and Cross is now recovering, hoping to be fit for the Jets Round 1 clash with Adelaide United.
‘It was just unlucky,- Cross said. ‘His boot just clipped me as I came in with the tackle and it-s just one of those things in football.-
Cross is proud of her wound though and the whole episode in the surgery where she received seven stitches is documented on video for people back home to see.
‘I have it all on video if anyone is interested…it-s not pretty though.-
