Jets’ defender, Cassidy Davis will make her 50th Westfield W-League appearance this weekend, as Newcastle host Sydney FC at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Kicking-off at 5pm, the match will be the second consecutive double-header for the Hunter as the Jets’ tenacious centre back reaches an important milestone.

The midfielder-turned-defender has been a talisman at the back for Craig Deans in recent seasons, as she enters her fifth season in the national competition.

Jets’ CEO, Lawrie McKinna said that Davis was joining an exclusive club with this latest achievement.

“Cassidy has been an integral part of our W-League set up for a number of years,” said McKinna.

“She’s a fantastic player who has given her all for Newcastle, she sets a fantastic example for all young footballers on what it takes to succeed.

“Cassidy has recently taken on a role as our Community Liaison Officer and has gone over and above in everything she does around the club.”

Westfield W-League Head Coach, Craig Deans said that Davis was an integral part of his squad.

“To rack up 50 games is a massive achievement in the W-League and it’s great to see that it’s a local girl who has come through the ranks,” said Deans.

“Cassidy contributes to our team both on and off the pitch, doing a lot of things behind the scenes to ensure things run smoothly for the girls week-to-week and it’s something we all appreciate.

“As a player it’s hard to fault her, she works hard and gives her all every time she steps onto the pitch – as a coach I can’t really ask for much more.”

All of Davis’ 50 Westfield W-League appearances have been for the Jets, as she joins an exclusive club that includes Gema Simon and Tara Andrews – all of whom have more than 50 caps for the club.
