While waiting for the team’s flight to board for Melbourne on Thursday, versatile Newcastle Jets midfielder Cameron Watson gave up some of his time to talk about the club’s Friday night clash with Melbourne City.

Watson, originally from the Victorian capital, confirmed that the mood in the camp heading into the Hyundai A-League round 4 fixture is positive, and shared some of his top tips for Jets supporters who may be bound for Melbourne for the match.

“There has been a lot of confidence gained from last weekend’s performance from the boys,” Watson said. “It’s good win to get over Victory … they are the reigning Champions so you do take a lot of confidence from that.”

“A lot of the boys do like heading down to Melbourne to play. It’s [AAMI Park] a good Stadium to play in, and being a Friday night makes it a little bit better.”

“Melbourne is known for its shopping and its culture of coffee. One of my favourite places is Code Black which is in North Melbourne, and there is one in the city as well.”

“Another thing I like doing is visiting the artistic laneways which have a lot of graffiti … they are in and around the city.”

“But the big highlight for this time of year would be Spring [Racing] Carnival. Derby Day is Saturday, so if you’re there [in Melbourne] for the weekend you could go there after our game on Friday,” Watson explained.
