Newcastle Jets Major Partner Aurizon has today announced the first round finalists in the 2013 Volunteer of the Year program.

The Aurizon program, now in its second year, acknowledges the valuable contribution volunteers make to junior football and rugby league clubs within Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.

The four finalists win $250 cash and a VIP experience with either the Newcastle Jets or Newcastle Knights as part of the prize. The winner of the Volunteer of the Year program for each code will receive $1000 for their Junior Club courtesy of Aurizon.

The winners of the April Awards are:

Junior Football

Ron Herival – Thornton Junior Football Club
Sandra Buxton – Shortland United Junior Football Club

Junior Rugby League

Forrest Saunders – Dungog Junior Rugby League Club
Aaron Jones -Raymond Terrace Junior Rugby League Club

There is still time to nominate! Just by nominating someone you will receive two tickets to a Jets or Knights home game.

The Aurizon Program also rewards every nominee with two free tickets to a match at Hunter Stadium, so every junior club is encouraged to nominate their Volunteers. Two winners from each code will be selected every month with the closing date for nominations being 30 July 2013. The recipients for the May Volunteer of the Month award will be selected in mid June with the winners being posted on the club websites.
