Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets defender Craig Goodwin will spend a further 10 days training with English Premier League Club Reading FC.

Goodwin-s time spent with the Royals has been extended in order to allow him to compete in a practice match with the Club on April 30.

The 21-year-old was originally scheduled to spend a fortnight training with Reading-s first team at their Hogwood Park practice facility, ending on April 20.

Goodwin enjoyed a breakout season in the A-League in 2012/13, making 25 appearances for the Jets and starting 21 matches.

Capable of playing as a left-back as well as in the left-wing position, Goodwin netted three goals and provided three assists in his first season in Newcastle colours.

Before jetting off to England, Goodwin told newcastlejets.com.au that he was looking forward to learning as much as could from his time with Reading.

“I can-t express enough how great an opportunity it is,” Goodwin said.

“You don-t get these chances everyday, so for myself to have this chance is something I-m very thankful for.

“I don-t have any expectations heading over there really, I-m just open to a great experience.

“Particularly for myself as a younger player, it will be a great to learn and experience the game over there.”
