Craig Goodwin says he is hoping to see a big Novocastrian crowd turnout for the Jets’ final round clash with Western Sydney.

Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets fullback Craig Goodwin says he is hoping to see a big Novocastrian crowd turnout to support the Jets in their crucial final round clash with Western Sydney Wanderers at Hunter Stadium on Friday week.

The Jets- season will be on the line when they face the Wanderers and Goodwin believes a large home crowd could be enough to propel the Jets towards victory and a top six spot.

“It-s our last game of the season and hopefully the crowd comes out and it-s the biggest (attendance) of the season,” Goodwin said.

“They-ve been great all year and we thank them for that a lot. Hopefully they turn up in big numbers again.

“It-s a really important game coming up against Western Sydney who are on a real high at the moment, so hopefully we can knock them off their pedestal and get into the finals.”

The Jets- cause was helped by a number of other results falling in their favour in Round 25 and with the Jets not playing this weekend, Goodwin said he and his teammates will be hoping for more of the same.

“Luckily results went our way last weekend and hopefully they do again this week,” Goodwin said.

“We-ll keep a close eye on what-s going to happen with the other teams and hope for the best really.

“There-s not much we can control in regards to the other teams, so we-ll just focus on ourselves and work hard at training to prepare for Western Sydney.”

Goodwin said having a week off will help the Jets with their preparation for the Wanderers clash.

“It gives us a chance to freshen up,” Goodwin said.

“Players that have injuries, such as Emile, it gives them a bit of extra time just to make sure they-re properly fit and get us feeling 100% and ready for Western Sydney.”
