Hayley Crawford Named as Newcastle Jets UNICEF Ambassador

This week the Jets’ Westfield W-League team is supporting UNICEF.

As part of the FFA-s involvement with UNICEF Australia, Westfield W-League squads along with their Hyundai A-League counterparts will be showing their support for UNICEF during Round 4 and Round 12 respectively by wearing blue armbands.

Selected as the Newcastle Jets UNICEF ambassador is Captain Hayley Crawford who will lead the support during the Jets- Round 4 local derby against the Central Coast Mariners.

Round 4 has been chosen to coincide with Universal Children-s Day on October 28 and the UNICEF Rounds form part of the ongoing ‘Level the Playing Field- partnership between Football Federation Australia and UNICEF Australia.

The ‘Level the Playing Field- initiative between the FFA and UNICEF was launched in 2008 and encompassed community development programs for children in Papua New Guinea and Indigenous communities within Australia.

Funds raised during 2009 through FFA initiatives will go towards assisting UNICEF football projects in Africa leading up to the African Cup in January 2010.
