Newcastle Jets ace Andrew Hoole netted an international youth hat-trick against Myanmar overnight as the Olyroos recorded a resounding 5-1 win to advance to next year’s AFC U23 Championships.
The 2016 AFC U23 Championships will double as the final phase of qualifying for the Rio Olympic Games football competition later in the year.
Hoole scored in the 10th, 57th and 70th minutes of the match for Aurelio Vidmar’s side, with Perth Glory attacker Jamie Maclaren scoring Australia’s other two goals in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei.
Hoole and his Australian U23 teammates will return to their respective clubs over the coming days.
Hoole is expected to be available for selection for Monday’s Hyundai A-League round 24 meeting with Maclaren’s Perth Glory at Hunter Stadium.
