Staff members from the Newcastle Jets and Newcastle Knights have been rolling up their sleeves in the name of saving lives.

A number staff members travelled to the Newcastle Blood Donor Centre last week to donate blood that will help to save the lives of cancer patients, burns victims, people undergoing surgery, expectant mothers, and unborn babies.

“Giving blood regularly is one of the ways we can support our great community,” Community and Charity Support Manager for the Knights and Jets, Ben Rogers said.

“It only takes a few minutes to donate but the benefits can last forever.”

Blood Service spokesperson, Simon McMillan, said regular donations made by staff members have made a big difference to people in need.

“Every blood donation saves three lives, so just this week, the Hunter Sports Group has saved the lives of more than 35 people who really need their help,” he said.

“In the Hunter Region alone, we need over 900 blood donations per week, so donating blood together can make a huge difference in meeting that need”.
