The Newcastle Jets in conjunction with NNSWF and FFA has announced they will appoint an Emerging Jets Academy Director.
The Newcastle Jets in conjunction with Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) and Football Federation Australia (FFA), has announced they will appoint an Academy Director for the Emerging Jets program.
The program, which currently consists of 13 squads, is a ground-breaking initiative for the sport in Australia and is underpinned by a tri party agreement between Football Federation Australia (FFA), NNSWF and the Newcastle Jets.
The parties seek to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Academy Director to oversee the implementation of a world class youth development program which will identify and develop world class players.
The role will also assume the responsibilities of the Head Coach of the Game Training Phase, following the resignation last month of incumbent Game Training Head Coach Wayne O-Sullivan.
A comprehensive review was undertaken by the parties following O-Sullivan-s resignation at the conclusion of 2013. Collectively it was agreed that the importance of this initiative, a first for Australian football youth development, necessitated the appointment of an Academy Director to implement the program in accordance with the FFA-s National Curriculum,- NNSWF CEO David Eland said.
‘The role will encompass the activities of the Game Training Head Coach, as well as the responsibility of identifying and developing a team of suitably qualified and experienced coaches in the Skill Acquisition Phase.-
‘We anticipate that there will be significant interest from coaching circles for this role, so to ensure we have a high calibre of candidates and in order to appoint the best possible person for the role, the position will be advertised through Northern NSW Football, the Newcastle Jets and Football Federation Australia-s network of elite coaches.-
“The position of Academy Director will be advertised extensively to ensure the appointment process is transparent and that we employ the best possible coach,- Eland concluded.
The successful applicant will be employed by NNSWF and report to the Emerging Jets Management Committee through NNSWF-s Chief Executive Officer.
