Four-time Surfing World Champion Mark Richards and Paralympic Gold Medalist Kurt Fearnley join eight other Newcastle Jets Members as Club Ambassadors to help promote the Jets and Membership in the local community.

Jets Members Riley Hawes (8), Arkie Stratford (8), Brianna Dagwell (9), Jade Walker (14), Jared Cady (21), Courtney Fitzsimmons (26), Steve Owen (50) and William Kynaston (92) stood out as some of the Jets- most passionate supporters and the perfect candidates to endorse the Club to their fellow Novocastrians.

Richards, who was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1985, said he was honoured to be a Newcastle Jets Club Ambassador.

“I was very flattered and very honoured that the Club asked me, because I-ve always been very supportive of our Newcastle sporting teams,” Richards said.

“I love nothing more than seeing a team like the Jets representing Newcastle on a national stage.

“Novocastrians are very patriotic about their sportspeople and sporting teams and the city really revels in its sporting success. When they win, it feels like the whole city wins.

“Football in Australia is growing in leaps and bounds and you only have to look at the participation numbers to see that it is incredibly popular.

“It-s great to be a part of something like that.”
