JETS BREAK NEW GROUND

The Newcastle Jets are breaking new ground in more ways than one

The Newcastle Jets are breaking new ground in more ways than one with news today the side will return to a re-turfed EnergyAustralia Stadium for next week-s matches against Adelaide and Brisbane.

A ground inspection today confirmed the surface was well on the way to being ready, with the re-turfing of more than 70 per cent of the ground to conclude a full week before the Jets- next home game on Saturday 13 November.

The news continues the exciting build-up to the hotly anticipated Qantas Challenge between the Jets and David Beckham-s Los Angeles Galaxy side on 27 November.

Jets Executive Chairman Ken Edwards said the efforts from ground-keeping staff and support from NSW Government-s Hunter Venues meant the surface would be of the high standard required to hold the prestigious event.

“I-ve seen the progress made and it-s coming along very well,” Edwards said.

“We-re confident both players and fans will be satisfied with the quality.

“The Jets have a huge month of football coming up so it will be great for home fans to enjoy the stadium at its best.”

The Jets play Adelaide United FC on Saturday 13 November and Brisbane Roar on Wednesday 17 November at EnergyAustralia Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Jets- clash against Central Coast originally slated for 27 November has been rescheduled to Wednesday 24 November.

The clash will be played mid-week with a kick-off time to be confirmed. Tickets purchased for this match will remain valid for the rescheduled date.
