Sam Gallaway and Connor Chapman hosted the inaugural Newcastle Jets Business Networking Event at WesTrac Tomago on Wednesday night.

This event was the final project completed by Gallaway and Chapman as part of their FFA Diploma of Business.

The event provided an opportunity for the Club-s players to meet and chat with business owners and professionals in the community who have key roles in areas of interest to the players post football.

“The event was about A-League players being able to network with business people in the community they-re involved with,” Gallaway explained.

“It-s good for all the players because they were able to network and meet new people and for Connor and I, it-s good because it-s a big part of us completing our Business Diploma.”

Gallaway and Chapman are among a number of current Jets players that are doing professional development in their spare time, making plans for their lives one day after sport.

“It-s always something I-ve been interested in and I-d like to own my own business one day,” Gallaway said.

“Doing these little things along the way obviously helps because you get a bit of a business mindset and have a better understanding of how the business world works.”

As well as being an opportunity for the Jets players and professionals to get to know each other a little better and build business relationships, the night also featured entertainment by magician David Welzman.

Gallaway said the event would not have been possible without the contributions of Jets- Major Sponsor WesTrac and a number of other individuals who helped organise the evening.

“We received a lot of help along the way from people like Dani Potter and Rob Vanderveer at the Jets and Emily Figueroa and Glenn Warry who-ve assisted us with our Business Diploma and helped us organise everything.”
