Gary van Egmond has some selection decisions to make this week.

As the Jets continue to prepare to host Sydney FC this Saturday at Ausgrid Stadium, coach Gary van Egmond knows he will have some selection decisions to make this week.

Youth striker Chris Payne may find himself in contention after an impressive run with the Jets youth over the past few weeks.

“Chris has been doing really well and scoring some goals for the youth,” van Egmond said.

“It is great to have so many good strikers available for us this weekend.”

Another decision the coaching staff will encounter this week will be choosing between Ben Kennedy and Matt Nash in goals.

“I thought Matt Nash did well on the weekend and there were a couple of times when he diffused things and if it wasn-t for him maybe the score could of really blown out a bit,” van Egmond explained.

“I couldn-t tell you at this moment which one out of Ben or Nashy has the top spot and it will be determined by what Bob Catlin has to say.

“There is a good competition between the two, which is what I like.”

During the Jets loss to the Central Coast Mariners, defender Nikolai Topor-Stanley suffered a hamstring injury and is the major concern on the injury front.

“It is a little too early to say with Topor-Stanley and he will get more tests done and his availability will depend on those results,” the coach added.

“We have to ensure he is 100 per cent so we will have to wait and see.”

Ruben Zadkovich was back on the training pitch today after being rested yesterday due to problem with his ankle.

Striker Marko Jesic may have to wait another week for a spot in the first team, with the young Olyroo likely to play with the youth team this weekend.

“It is going to take some time for Marko to get his game rhythm and match fitness after having a period out of the game,” he explained.
