The fresh look, young Jets side will take on Perth at Wanderers Oval on Saturday, with the match kicking off at 3pm.

The Newcastle Jets W-League side will fly the flag locally whilst their male counterparts tackle Adelaide away with the girls hoping hometown support will get them over the line in their season opener.

The fresh look, young Jets side will take on Perth at Wanderers Oval on Saturday, with the match kicking off at 3pm.

“We’d definitely love to get three points on the board from the get go,’ Jets Captain, Gema Simon said.

“The girls are excited about getting our season underway and we’ll be hoping that we get a good crowd to push us even harder against Perth.”

The youthful Jets side is not overawed by the visitors, whose ranks include Matilda and former Jets player, Katie Gill, as well as Canadian World Cup striker, Christina Julien.

“We have an enthusiastic young side, that is filled with local talent and I know from training that they are not intimidated by Perth and will take the game to them,” Coach Peter McGuinness said.

“The girls have trained well and have been looking forward to tomorrow’s clash. I’m confident they will put in a good show and be eager to come away with a win,” McGuinness concluded.

The Jets women will play six home games this season, five at Wanderers Oval with the remaining match to be played at Adamstown Oval.
