This week the Jets will join Adelaide United in bringing the people of regional NSW their first ever A-League fixture.

Today the Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets began their journey to Bathurst where they will join Adelaide United in bringing the people of regional NSW their first ever A-League fixture.

“It is great that we are taking the game regional and I think it is really important that our game is taken to these areas,“ coach Gary van Egmond said.

“There are a lot of football supporters in those country areas and it is a good feeling to get out there and be amongst those people.

“We haven-t won away from home for a while so we are looking forward to a bit of a change of scenery and hopefully a change of luck.”

It is an important game for the Jets, with the team remaining in ninth spot on the ladder after a 1-0 loss to Wellington Phoenix on Friday night but just five points out of the top six.

“Friday-s game was disappointing and we are now looking forward to backing up against Adelaide on Wednesday and the boys are really up for a strong performance,” the coach explained.

“Adelaide are in a fairly similar boat to us, both teams will be desperate and that is one thing you can be sure of.”
