The Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets have locked-in pre-season trial matches against Mounties Wanderers, Bonnyrigg White Eagles and the Canberra NPL All Stars.
The Jets will take on NSW NPL 2 side Mounties Wanderers FC at Cook Park this Wednesday, August 7.
The match against the third-placed Mounties will be Newcastle-s third fixture of the pre-season to date.
The Jets will step-up their preparations for the 2013/14 A-League season when they take on NSW NPL 1 side Bonnyrigg White Eagles at Bonnyrigg Sports Fields the following Wednesday, August 14.
The Jets were originally scheduled to play NSW NPL 2 side St George FC on that date, but the fixture had to be cancelled due to ground availability.
Following the Bonnyrigg clash, the Jets will head to Canberra for a week-long training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport, concluding with a trial match against the Canberra NPL All Stars at McKellar Stadium on Wednesday, August 21.
The Jets defeated a Canberra Select side 9-1 in the corresponding trial match last pre-season.
Jets CEO Robbie Middleby said the upcoming trial matches will provide the playing squad with another opportunity to develop valuable match fitness and cohesion.
“All of these fixtures are an important part of our preparations for the 2013/14 A-League season,” Middleby said.
“The games against Mounties and Bonnyrigg should be a good test for our boys, which is what we-re looking for at this stage of the pre-season.
“We-re also looking forward to returning to Canberra and making use of the world-class training facilities on offer at the AIS, before having another tough hit-out against the Canberra NPL All Stars.”
