Jets offer exclusive Westfield W-League membership

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Westfield W-League, and for the first time in the club’s history, the Newcastle Jets will offer an exclusive W-League Membership for the 2017/18 season.

The latest membership offering will allow Jets fans to support the club and the women’s game in the region.

For a second consecutive season, the Jets are proud to host five double-headers on home ground at McDonald Jones Stadium, kicking-off this Sunday against the Western Sydney Wanderers.

In addition to the double-headers, there will also be a stand-alone home game No. 2 Sportsground – thanks to Newcastle City Council – which is also the new training base for the W-League squad.

On Sunday, the club is hoping that the Newcastle community not only show their support for the Hyundai A-League team, but also come out early and get behind the strong Westfield W-League squad that Craig Deans has assembled.

Jet’s CEO, Lawrie McKinna said the W-League membership was an extension of the club’s commitment to furthering women’s football in the Hunter.

“It’s just fantastic to see how the W-League has grown, and it’s clearly something the community is right behind,” said McKinna.

“As a club, we wanted to lead the way and that comes back to us bringing the W-League under our management for the 2017/18 season.

“We hosted the most double-headers in the league last year, and that’s the case again in 2017/18.”

Jets’ W-League player, Cassidy Davis said the membership was a great opportunity for fans to show their support.

“We had some great crowds last year and we’re all excited to see the support Newcastle, starting this weekend against Western Sydney,” said Davis.

“To see the club supporting the W-League team in such a positive way is only going to benefit women’s football in Newcastle.”
