Today the Jets coaches & management held talks with the playing group as they focus on planning for next season.

After Monday-s news that the Hunter Sports Group has reaffirmed their commitment to the Newcastle Jets, today was about the resumption of planning for season 2012/13.

Coaches and management met with the majority of their contracted players at Jets headquarters on Tuesday morning, with Taylor Regan, Ruben Zadkovich, Nikolai Topor-Stanley and Marko Jesic unavailable due to their own prior commitments.

“Today-s catch up was really to touch base after all that has happened over the last few weeks,” CEO Robbie Middleby said.

“It was also an opportunity for the coaching group to let the players know about the plans for pre-season training, which is only a few weeks away from resuming.”

The Jets new signings missed the meeting; they will join their new teammates closer to the resumption of pre-season.

Michael Bridges and Ali Abbas, who are currently uncontracted, attended the meeting as they continue their negotiations with the Club.

“Our negotiations are continuing with Michael and Ali and we hope to have that resolved in the near future,” Middleby added.

There are a number of spots to fill on the playing roster, which will be a major focus for Middleby and coach Gary van Egmond during the off-season.

“We are confident of building a strong team for season 2012/13,” Middleby said.

“The good news is the players that we had in here today were buoyed by yesterday-s news and are looking forward to resuming pre-season training later this month.”

The Jets will resume pre-season training on May 21.
