Jobe Wheelhouse and Sam Gallaway return from injury this week, whilst Francis Jeffers isn’t far away.

The Newcastle Jets welcome back captain Jobe Wheelhouse and young defender Sam Gallaway from injury this week.

Wheelhouse, who has been sidelined since the last Wellington game, has resumed training this week and named in the squad to play Wellington on Friday night at Ausgrid Stadium.

“Jobe is in the mix this week but we are unsure if he will start because it takes time to get your match fitness back when you have been out for a while,” assistant coach Craig Deans said.

Sam Gallaway, who has been out of the game for even longer, will make his return to the Youth team when they take on AIS later today. Gallaway injured both his knee and ankle and has been in rehab for ten weeks.

In other injury news, Francis Jeffers’ ankle injury has improved and his return to the pitch shouldn’t be far away.

Meanwhile Jets new signing Connor Chapman, will make his first appearance for the Jets Youth team.

“Connor has been at the Club for two weeks and he has quickly shown he has a huge amount of potential,” Deans said of the 17-year old.

“With the Youth team playing before the A-League at Ausgrid Stadium he has a good opportunity to get a feel for the stadium and being part of the match day squad.”

The Jets return home to Ausgrid Stadium after two games away and are looking forward to playing in front of their home crowd.

Gates open at 5.10pm for the Youth game which kicks off at 5.15pm and then the A-League action is from 8pm.
