The Newcastle Jets have gone five matches without a loss following a terrific 2-0 win over North Queensland at Dairy Farmers Stadium tonight.

The team’s first away win of the season featured goals from Nikolai Topor-Stanley and Sasho Petrovski, who backed up his scoring performance in the Qantas Challenge with a goal in injury time.

Topor-Stanley, who recently scored his first goal in Jets colours, put the side ahead in the 78th minute after the Fury struggled to convert early chances at goal.

It was a tough first half of football for the Jets, whose only real chance came from a Ruben Zadkovich shot in the 36th minute. Zadkovich latched onto a Topor-Stanley pass but his low strike drew a regulation save from Fury keeper Justin Pasfield.

A crowd of 3,573 saw their home side dominate long periods of play but ultimately it was the Jets who took control in the late stages of the match.

The win puts the Jets in a solid position to make a run at the top six of the A-League competition. The team now travels to Melbourne for a match-up with the Heart on Wednesday.
