The Newcastle Jets match against Brisbane Roar on Saturday was made extra special for some of ‘The Big Issue- Street Soccer Program players.

Representatives from the Newcastle Street Soccer program took to Hunter Stadium at half time to showcase their skills in front of an appreciative Jets crowd.

The Community Street Soccer Program, known as Street Soccer, promotes social inclusion and personal change by providing support and promoting participation, inclusiveness, commitment and team spirit.

The heart of Street Soccer is a weekly training session held at PCYC Broadmeadow, corner of Young and Melbourne Roads on Thursdays between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.

Participants get together in a safe and non-threatening environment, allowing them to get fit, make new friends and seek support and advice.

Participants were given tickets to see the Newcastle Jets v Brisbane Roar match and the opportunity to kick the football around on Hunter Stadium.
