Jets take on Canberra in Semi-Final replay

The Newcastle Jets will come up against Canberra United this weekend during Round 8 of the Westfield W-League.

The Newcastle Jets will come up against Canberra United this weekend during Round 8 of the Westfield W-League.

The last time these two sides met was during the Semi Final of the 08/09 season, during which Canberra ended the Jets- hopes of a place in the Grand Final.

If there has been any time for the Jets to have something to prove, it is this Sunday during their double header with the Hyundai A-League Newcastle Jets at EnergyAustralia Stadium.

Not only did Jets skipper, Hayley Crawford, make the move to Newcastle after the inaugural season of the Westfield W-League, but youngster and upcoming football star, Emily van Egmond, made the move to the capital earlier this year, just in time to don the green for Canberra United.

Although making the finals is now no longer a focus for the side due to their current position on the table, the Jets are looking to end the season in a good position.

“It-s been a new start for us as a team, there were always more objectives and targets for us than the W-League finals, both individually for the players and collectively as a team so what we-ve said now as a group is that we want to finish the season strong,” said Head Coach Wayne O-Sullivan.

Still looking for that illusive first win, the Jets will be turning to a vocal home crowd and attempting to shake their record on the big stage of two losses from two games to turn it into three points.

The Jets are set to clash with Canberra United on Sunday 15th November at 2:15pm at EnergyAustralia Stadium. Tickets can be purchased from www.proticket.com.au or by calling (02) 4915 2345.
