The Newcastle Jets are proud to join the newly established Hunter Aboriginal Close the Gap Committee (HACTGC).

The HACTGC meets regularly and focuses on the promotion and support of Close the Gap (CTG), Harmony Day and NAIDOC activities in the Hunter.

Committee members include representatives from local welfare agencies, the Department of Education and Communities, Hunter New England Local Health District and Hunter Medicare Local.

“The Newcastle Jets have supported the Close the Gap campaign for a number of years and as a Committee Member, we look forward to being involved in these important local cultural activities all year round.” said Wendy Carmichael, Newcastle Jets General Manager Community and Charity Support.

“The Committee will have a key role in helping us to manage CTG, NAIDOC and Harmony Day activities, and, providing advice on which local events the Club should be involved in.”

The HACTGC has recently launched its logo which has design elements based on the local region (sun, sand, ocean and valley) and working in the community, plus a colour palette of red, blue, green, orange and yellow.

Many local communities and schools are also celebrating NAIDOC Week during July and the Newcastle Jets will be appearing at a number of NAIDOC events over the coming weeks.
