The Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets have acknowledged the contributions of Ali Abbas and Jeremy Brockie to the Club, after it was confirmed the pair would not be re-signing with the Jets for the 2012-13 season.

Abbas was recruited by the Jets in 2009 after impressing for the Marconi Stallions in the NSW Premier League.

The attacker made 60 appearances for Newcastle and scored four goals.

The Club and Abbas- management were in negotiations to extend his time at the Hunter based-club but have decided to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

Brockie joined Newcastle ahead of the 2010/11 season with injuries restricting him to two goals in 11 matches in his first year with the Jets.

The 24-year-old New Zealand International enjoyed the most successful season of his career under the tutelage of Gary van Egmond last year, scoring a Club-best nine goals.

The Club wishes Abbas and Brockie the best of luck as they continue their careers elsewhere.
