The Newcastle Jets invested in the grassroots of football when the teammates paid a visit to Belmont Christian College to host a football clinic for students.

Belmont Christian College won the experience after it was deemed the school signed up the highest number of Newcastle Jets Members in the off-season.

Jets stars Ruben Zadkovich, Craig Goodwin, Taylor Regan, Kew Jaliens, Zenon Caravella, Joey Gibbs, James Virgili and Ben Kennedy were on hand to run a series of interactive football workshops with the receptive students.

More than 400 students honed their kicking, dribbling and goal keeping skills under the guidance of the A-League players.

The players enjoyed running the football workshops and the chance it gave them to interact with the young fans.

“It-s just about us getting out in the community and putting on a bit of a clinic for these kids,” Newcastle Jets captain Ruben Zadkovich said.

“They-re great kids, they-re having a good time and its nice to be here.

“It starts at this grassroots level and with kids this age. It-s really nice to see these kids and their families getting behind us.

“Their support to us is huge. You could really see that yesterday with the crowd and the turn out and the way the fans were getting behind us.”

The Jets make a sustained effort throughout the year to give back to the community that supports the team and are involved in a number of events at schools and community organisations throughout the region.
