The Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets have today thanked Tarek Elrich for his contribution to the Club, following confirmation they are parting ways with the popular foundation player.

Elrich has been a valued member of the Newcastle Jets since the Club-s inception. He has made 134 appearances for the Jets after making his professional debut with the Club in 2005/06.

The 25-year-old played a significant role during the Jets- 2007/08 Championship winning season, scoring the crucial third goal in Newcastle-s 3-2 Preliminary Final win over the Brisbane Roar.

Jets head coach Gary van Egmond said the Club was thankful for Elrich-s efforts over the past seven seasons, and wished him well for the next phase of his career.

“Tarek has made a fantastic contribution to the Club for a number of years and we wish him the best for whatever the future may hold,” van Egmond said.

“He was a foundation player and member of the team that won the Grand Final in 2007/08, so it-s with a heavy heart that we say goodbye.”
